Commission and Pre-Show Artwork Price List, Spring-Summer 2025
Characters are presumed to be my intellectual property (IP) (ex. Megaton Man, Border Worlds, Bizarre Heroes, X-Amount of Comics, Splitting Image, etc.), or in the public domain (ex. Victory Folks, Frankenstein), or generic (barbarians, jungle heroes/heroines, planetary romance heroes, giant apes). For characters not owned by me, see below.
Drawings, India ink on Bristol or Strathmore 400 Drawing paper:
- Bust (head and shoulders), 9" x 12": $150
- Single full figure, 11" x 14": $250
- Single full figure, 11" x 14", detailed (ex. Megaton Man, Yarn Man, Jenny from Border Worlds): $300
- Two or more full figure groups, 11" x 17" or 14" x 17": $400-$600 up
- Pinup or faux cover (with background, logo), 11" x 17": $1200 up
- Blank cover comics: $300 up
Additional:
- Color (please inquire)
- Nudity, erotica (Anton Drek): x 2 on up (please inquire)
- Characters that don't belong to me: + 25%
- Gift or other commissions involving portraits or caricatures of real people (ex. friends, family members): please inquire
Publication:
- Commissions for publication (ex. variant cover or pin-up for your comic book) involve a separate negotiation. Please inquire.

I have a selection of blank variant covers on hand, please inquire. Otherwise, blanks will need to be mailed in advance.
Shows: Please check my list of upcoming shows. If you wish to pick up your commission at a show, please allow as much time as possible (a month would be wise). Time at shows is finite so the number of drawings I can accomplish on-site is very limited. Sometimes I can start a drawing at a show in pencil and ship later. I also have original ready-made artwork as well as prints for sale at shows. Please bring something to carry the art (envelope, bag, portfolio, etc.) for safe transport.

Disclaimers: I reserve the right to decline a commission for any reason or no reason, including:
- I will not "team up" my characters with other IP without the IP owner's permission
- tasteless or illegal subject matter will be declined
- Requests that compromise my IP or other IP will be declined
- Requests that are libelous, demean public figures, or express incendiary opinions or could be construed as doing so will be declined
More disclaimers:
- Characters are ™ and © Donald E. Simpson 2025. Images of my characters may be published or used by me for any purpose.
- Original art is sold to collectors for their private collections and enjoyment, and imply no ownership or copyrights or right to publish or profit from said images in any way except on limited social media posts.
- Commission requests involving characters owned by past collaborators (ex. Savage Dragon, normalman, Mr. Monster) require permission from the respective creator-owners as a professional courtesy. In the past, obtaining such permission has not been a problem, but may involve additional time for communication and approval.
- "Team-ups" or crossovers involving my IP (ex. Megaton Man) and corporate-owned IP (ex. Marvel, DC, Star Wars) will be declined since it could be construed as presumptuous.
- Drawings of corporate-owned characters or pop culture figures are sold to collectors only as original art for their private collections and enjoyment and imply no ownership or right to publish.
Every commission is a unique and personal negotiation and there are numerous variables not covered above. Please contact me with any questions.
